This is the 2nd annual The Carolina Slam. This Tournament is a charity meat fish targeting wahoo, dolphin and tuna species. We have several activities including a boat auction for the public to participate even if they don’t fish where you can bet on which boat you think will win giving an opportunity to earn money if they do win! Along with a family atmosphere with entertainment, food, silent auctions with a variety of prices, raffles, vendors and so much more to help raise money for the McLeod Children’s Hospital Charity. Besides having fun you will be helping families and their children have a fighting chance.
We are raising money so the hospital can afford to purchase monitors for the children of which cost upwards of 30 thousand dollars a piece. McLeod Health currently serves most of the critically ill babies in the Pee Dee and Grand Strand. Specialized transport rushes them from less-equipped hospitals in North and South Carolina to the 40-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Florence.
The care that McLeod Health provides to these tiny patients is outstanding. However to continue providing excellent care, the hospital is in need of new monitors that track each baby’s condition continuously. More details can be found on the website, Facebook, Instagram or by giving the marina a call. Each year we look forward to our fishermen, fisher ladies and children who participate having a great time supporting such a good cause for the community.
